The Winter Formal was held in the cafeteria on Feb 6. With everything from glow stick bracelets to dinner and dessert, it was a success. At 5:30 and earlier, students began to trickle into the building being met with a ticket table and a stamp of admission. Walking into the cafeteria, there was a total transformation with ambient lights, photo opportunities, and Mr. Zoboi in charge of DJ duty.
There were all types of food available, from chip bags to brownies, which gave the students a wide variety of choices. The music volume increased, and specific songs that Mr. Zoboi knew would get people moving began to play. Students flooded the center of the cafeteria, all dancing in unison; every song had a choreographed dance.

Pizza was served following the snack selection, and then came dessert. Senior Committee members had cooked desserts as well as brought desserts. Students of the Senior Committee took up the responsibility of serving food to those in line. The entire event was intricately planned and executed smoothly. People were able to enjoy taking Polaroid photos with their peers and professional camera images as well. Winter-themed photo props were given for the students to use. Everyone seemed to be having a good time.
Towards the end students were able to obtain distributed shine-in-the-dark bracelets or necklaces to further set the vibe of the formal. Dancing continued, and at 7:30, the lights came on, and it was time to clean up. Students in the Senior Committee and volunteers from other grades stayed later to clean.
Overall, the goal of creating a vibrant and cool atmosphere for the Winter Formal was successful, and seemingly nothing went wrong or out of plan.
In the week leading up to the formal, it seemed as if nobody was going to attend. Through the hallways, people whispered and claimed they were not attending. The formal was originally an event only for seniors, but due to the lack of participants, the Senior Committee, run by Ms. Gold, opened it up for juniors as well.
The Winter Formal began to look faulty and not as exciting as the Senior Committee hoped it to be. In a quick but clever decision, on Wednesday a flash sale was held, dropping the original price of $10 down to $7, only applying to that day.
Beyond that day of the flash sale, students began to talk about their outfits for the upcoming formal. The prices of attendance were $10 before the formal, $12 at the door, and $7 during the flash sale.

Initially, many were expecting that attendance would be low since it seemed as if no one was interested. In contrast , the day was bustling with students getting ready and preparing themselves. Some students even left early to dress up before the formal’s commencement.
