Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
If you’ve played any of the “Mortal Kombat” games, you’ll love the new movie, “Mortal Kombat II”. Both the first, and now second “Mortal Kombat” movies are based heavily on its video game franchise.
Many of the characters from the games show up in the movie, such as Sub-Zero, played by Joe Taslim, or Raiden, played by Carlos Pesina. There’s a specific backstory behind each one that you can find out about if you watch the prequel.
Though I haven’t played the “Mortal Kombat” games myself, I still found this movie very entertaining, and I would definitely watch it again.
The main aspect of the movie is a fighting tournament with the fate of the human race on the line. There are two realms in the movie that fighters come from. If you win 10 tournaments in a row, your realm has full control over the other realm.
One feature of the movie that makes it so fun and exciting to watch are all the fight scenes. The fight scenes give an immersive vibe that makes you feel like you’re on the sidelines, watching the fights in person, or it just feels like you’re playing the game on a giant movie screen.
I give this movie four stars instead of five stars because I feel that the only weakness of the movie is its pacing. The pacing of the movie varies depending on the scene. Some scenes pass by very fast, but some are dragged out, so it’s not really equal throughout the whole movie.
If you like “Mortal Kombat” games or any fighting games in general, you’d love this movie. If you don’t like much violence or gore, you might not like this movie.
