Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Daniel Caesar sold out at Madison Square Garden on his “Superpowers “Tour on October 17, with opening performances by Omar Apollo and Montell Fish.

The concert opened with Montell Fish which set the crowd ablaze. The flashing lights and the loud guitar solos completely contradicted Caesar’s calm entrance.

Caesar had canceled his performance in Washington D.C and announced that he wouldn’t be able to perform due to his illness. But the day after, Caesar performed at MSG and had the crowd in awe.

There was a brief intermission with a singular white light and smoke within the atmosphere. Per his entrance, Caesar appeared and started with his first track: “Ochos Rios.”

Despite his illness, Caesar sounded just as beautiful as he does in recordings of his songs.

His performance had shining lights, smoke within the atmosphere, guitar and piano solos.

Seeing Caesar and listening to his voice in person really changed my view on him. I loved his music more than I did before.

Caesar’s setlist included:
Ocho Rios
Let Me Go
Disillusioned
Toronto 2014 (with Mustafa)
CYANIDE
Loose
Violet
Do You Like Me?
ENTROPY
OPEN UP
Japanese Denim
Best Part (with H.E.R.)
Please Do Not Lean
Pain Is Inevitable
Shot My Baby
Superpowers
Creep (Radiohead cover) (Acoustic)
Get You
Always
Streetcar (Backstage video)

Caesar’s cover of “Creep” was an honor to listen to in person. New York was lucky enough to hear his Radiohead cover, and have H.E.R (Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson) featured at his Best Part performance.

His concert was truly a tearjerker. I felt touched by his performances.
