Security Officer Maxwell has been working at Pace for five years now, since a little bit before the pandemic. She tries her best every day to work towards the safety of Pace.
This interview has been edited and condensed.
What’s your job at Pace?
Well, my job is pretty much to be a school safety agent. That entails keeping everyone safe in the building, making sure there are no trespassers coming in to keep everyone safe, including myself.
Do you like your job?
I do like my job. Because of you guys. You guys bring joy to the building.
How important do you think your role is?
My role is actually very important. You know, it’s based on safety, so everyone wants to go home to their family, right? So yeah, it’s a pretty big role, a big responsibility.
What is your favorite or least favorite thing about working with students?
My favorite thing about working with students is that I get to see them grow. My least favorite thing is that sometimes they don’t quite listen. And I guess that’s part of life, you know, when you don’t listen. It’s something that you have to go through, so you could learn. There’s not really a part that I don’t really like. I kind of like it all.
