Over these past few years, the common area has been undergoing a multi-year renovation effort to restore an art piece that originally stood in the area. But it appears the restoration project seems to be coming to an end at last, which means all schools will have to be relocated the week of April 7th, 2025. For the time being, Pace will move into the Seward Park Educational Campus on 350 Grand Street.
The move has been met with scepticism by staff members, as the Seward Park Educational Campus is already home to five schools: New Design High School, the Essex Street Academy, Lower Manhattan Arts Academy, High School for Dual Language and Asian Studies, and the Urban Assembly Academy of Government and Law.
Some fear that adding more schools to the mix would create confusion to not just newcomers, but also students and staff in other schools, as many teachers have graciously offered to spare their rooms and resources to Pace teachers during free periods.
Pace students will enter through the entrance of New Design High School, which is also where students with handicaps can collect their elevator pass. Yondr pouches will still be in effect during the school day. No clubs or test prep will meet that week, but all PSAL sports will continue as normal.
On April 9th, juniors are scheduled to take the SAT, which means all non-testing Pace students will get the day off. All throughout the week, the dismissal of all seniors will occur at 6th period lunch.
Parents and guardians can expect an email from Mr. Glatz in regards to the relocation by this weekend, with Mr. Sowiski to email all students a guide to the locations of all classes.
As always, students are expected to treat their surroundings and fellow students with respect and care, especially in a space which is not theirs. Pace students are to abide by the rules set by the Seward Campus schools, and to maintain Pace’s good standing with the staff of the campus.
