Over spring break, six Pace students embarked on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure to Peru through EF Tours. Three adults accompanied the students: Ms. Medina, Ms. Martinez, and Ryan’s mother. Students spent a wonderful eight days immersed in the landscapes and cultures of Lima, Pisac, Sacred Valley, Ollantaytambo, Cuzco and Machu Picchu.
The days were filled with hiking ancient trails, exploring historic sites, shopping in markets, and engaging in hands-on cultural activities to grow closer to Peru. From walking in the big city of Lima to exploring Machu Picchu and its history, we did everything.
Our tour guide, Gladys, made every moment of our trip count. She introduced us to Peru’s famous culinary specialties, such as the cuy (guinea pig) and alpaca.
One of the highlights was a hands-on cooking class, where we learned to make a dish called causa, a classic Peruvian dish layered with potatoes, avocado, and chicken.
