The girls softball team season went well with a win, lose ratio of 5-9, Last year the teams record was 10-3 winning 10 games leading them to playoffs.
This season, it was a rough start adjusting to the new lineup and new players on the team. Last year’s line up was full of power houses with the majority of the starters being seniors and with them graduating this left the team with a minor setback. This year, the team had to use a different line up forcing players to play two positions.
But with the addition of new players, the team was able to adjust to this set back.
Ariel Collado, senior, said, “The season was really fun, and last year was like our golden season, so this year I just wanted to end off on a good note.” There were difficult times in certain games where the girls didn’t communicate with each other on the field which led to losses, but after some back to back losses we came back with outstanding numbers.
Ariel Collado, Samiya Cruz and Eliza Rodriguez were top 20 hitters for division 2A in 2025 and Chloe Ortiz was top 10 for pitching strikeouts and 4 wins pitching.
Although the team was winning some games, the team had to deal with the fact that there was no pitcher forcing some adjustment to the line up causing miscommunication. Even though times were rough the girls still had a great season.
Samiya Cruz, senior, said, “Just keep our motivation up and do not get in our heads. And when we play certain teams we need to back each other up.”
With the new team captain for next year’s team being Chloe Ortiz, the girls softball team will have a great captain that’s persistent and has the ability to lead them to the championship.
