Nurse Liam is a new staff member that we welcome to our community. He comes from Indonesia and is of Chinese descent, which he takes great pride in.
This interview has been edited and condensed.
What do you do here?
I’m actually the school nurse but it’s not only for Pace. So, I’m the school nurse for Pace, Emma Lazarus, and M.S 131.
What did you do to get in this position?
You have to go to nursing school and you have to finish your registered nurse degree. It took around four years. I like what I’m doing, and I really feel like this is my calling. I enjoy doing what I’m doing.
Can you give some background on your life?
I was born in Indonesia. Indonesia is in Southeast Asia. It is the biggest Muslim country in the world and I’m of Chinese descent. I have been living in New York for 22 years. Well, I’ve been a nurse for 14 years altogether. I really love living in New York and I really love to be a nurse.
Do you have any hobbies?
Going to the dog park. I have two dogs. I also enjoy traveling.
What’s your dog’s name?
It’s Stewey and Momo.
What’s one thing that you wanna tell the students at Pace?
Keep doing a good job and enjoy life. Life is too short, so be kind to one another.
