Lilyana Sanchez is a 12th grade transfer student coming from a high school in Staten Island looking for a new beginning and new friends.
What made you choose Pace?
Well, more like family stuff, because I used to travel from Brooklyn to Staten Island, and it was just too much. So I wanted to switch, and since my cousin’s in the school, I know a little bit about people.
How do you like Pace so far?
It’s not bad. I kind of like it. Only because the people here are nice, and they’re kind of chill.
So it’s easier to make friends, especially people who actually match your energy. Because if they don’t, that’s kind of boring. And people in my old school were not like that at all.
They were kind of lean. And it was hard to make friends over there because it was like people had a group, and they stuck with that group. And that was just not me.
So what’s your favorite class so far, why?
Favorite class? I say art. We don’t really do much there.
What about any hobbies? Do you like to do anything fun out of school, or are you in any clubs?
I like to go outside and hang out with my family or friends. And if I’m not outside, I’ll be home reading or spending time with my sister or my brother.
What’s your dream job?
My dream job is being a speech language pathologist, because, you know, like, I want to help kids who were in my position, because I used to have speech classes and I knew the struggles. I want to help other kids get better, like I did. I [would] major in psychology because that’s the only major that goes under speech.
What is your dream place to travel to?
Since I was young, I’ve always wanted to go to Paris just to see the Eiffel Tower and, you know, the macarons. I want to get a little taste of that. But a lot of people say it’s not that. Let me rethink that. But Paris has always been where I want to go.
