Why did you join the yearbook club?
I joined the yearbook club because I saw a poster of it in the hallway, and it caught my attention. It wasn’t something related to any school subject. It sounded artsy, so I thought it would be fun to try.
Why do you enjoy the club?
The part I enjoy the most about the club is seeing all the pictures and memories created by everyone throughout all high school years.
What do you do in the yearbook club?
We are in charge of creating the yearbooks for the upcoming graduating class. As a group, we converse about what’s going to be in the yearbook and what won’t. We post Google Forms in the classroom regarding the yearbook: like superlatives and class favorites, collecting votes at the end. We also use an online software to create layouts and add pictures to create every page.
What is the online software you use? What are the advantages and disadvantages?
The software that we use is called Entourage Yearbooks. The advantages of Entourage Yearbooks are that we are able to not only use premade layouts, but also create custom layouts. There are many fonts, colors, and graphics to use from. The disadvantage though is that if the work isn’t saved, it can easily be lost. So, we have to be very careful and make sure we hit the save button after every edit we make.
What days are you planning to meet?
We plan on meeting every Wednesday after school in Mr. Driver’s’ room.
How often do you devote your time to the yearbook club?
Not only do I work on a yearbook during club hours, but I also have to work on it during my own time because we only have a few months to complete this project. The yearbook is due by May.
If you were given a bigger club budget, what would you use it on?
We would use it to add more pages to the yearbook. We’re only limited to a certain number of pages that, sometimes, leads to other important events and pictures to be left out.
What was your favorite senior yearbook to do?
My favorite senior yearbook to do was for the Class of 2024. That yearbook was different. We based the yearbook on Netflix and it was pretty creative.
How are you planning to do your last and final yearbook?
For my final yearbook, I really want it to be creative and full of pictures of many moments with everyone. At the end of the day, we are not professional designers, but I would love it if more people joined this club, so we can all work on something that we can all be happy with.
How are your feelings heading into your last year of the club?
I’m really looking forward to it, but I’m also sad because this is my last year and I won’t be able to make more memories that would be included. But at the same time, I’m also excited because I feel like this will be the best one yet, and I’m going to give it my all.
