Girls’ Softball Team Headed to Playoffs After Strong Finish in Season
The girls’ varsity softball team ended their season ranked fourth in the league, with a record of ten wins and six losses.
The team was coached by fairly new coaches, Mr. Espaillat and Mr. Rothschild, who stepped into the spotlight this season.
In 2019, the last year of Pace’s softball before the pandemic, the team was coached by Mr. Pino and Mr. Lee, who led them to a perfect season of 12-0.
Despite the huge changes and challenges this year, the team spirit was as high as ever.
On May 12 they played their last game of the season against Richard Green High School of Teaching, which they annihilated. The final score was 17-1. After this electrifying win, sophomore Jalissa Thomas said, “The season has been really fun and exciting.”
The team will face William E. Grady High School in the first round of the playoffs on May 23.
